Tauck Slashes Cruise Fares

Tauck Cutting Fares on European River Cruises

Tauck is slashing prices up to $1,200 per couple for all 2016 European river cruises. Because of favorable gains made by the U.S. dollar against the euro, Tauck is passing on the savings to passengers.

“We’re incredibly proud of the value we deliver to our guests, and when opportunities arise to increase that value — whether it’s by enhancing the experience our guests enjoy, or by taking advantage of favorable exchange rates — we’re excited to do so. For 2016, we’ve been able to do both,” CEO Dan Mahar said.

That’s awesome news, Tauck. Thanks for not being greedy.

Tauck Introduces Two New River Ships

Tauck The Best European River CruisesThe MS Grace

On Monday Tauck also announced they will be adding two new river ships to their fleet. Which is pretty odd because they also announced the new ships a few months ago. I wrote about it back in February. But here’s a recap.

The new ships are the MS Grace and the MS Joy.

The new ships will feature eight “loft” cabins on the lower deck. There will be twenty-two 300-square-ft suites. Thirty-two 225-square-foot cabins. Thirteen cabins ranging from 150 to 190-square-feet. Four of the 150-square-foot cabins will be set aside for solo travelers looking to hook up on the cruise.

The suites offer French balconies, floor-to-ceiling windows, pull-out couches, walk-in closets and large bathrooms with rain showers.

The ships feature unlimited complimentary beverages, including regional wine, beer and premium spirits. I’m sold. For those who want more, there’s al fresco dining, fitness center, a putting green, bicycles, and a jacuzzi.

The MS Grace will sail on the Rhine, while the MS Joy will ply the Danube. Among the Grace’s itineraries is Tauck’s new 10-day The Rhine, Swiss Alps & Amsterdam itinerary. Zurich to Amsterdam. Or in reverse. Fares start at $4,690 per person.

Tauck has been named World’s Best River Cruise Line by Travel+Leisuremagazine in three of the last four years. “You don’t enjoy that kind of success in such a competitive environment without constantly working to deliver more to your guests,” Mahar said.
